FRRRRRRRT!

So, It’s the last day at our training camp in Georgia and we’re all greatly anticipating what we’re truly getting ourselves into. So far it’s been hot and wet with raindrops the size of baseballs, and due to a callous act of sexism, the guys of the group (myself included) have been living out of tents. Most importantly though, none of this has caused me an inkling of grief, because I have been far too distracted with all the great things that are happening. It’s been so refreshing and fun to be in such a pure environment where there are a hundred-plus people...

An Unexpected Visitor

Dirty fur. Green paint on a wet nose. Eyes locked on mine, and head cocked to one side. No, not me. But a black lab who has begun to call AIM home. Just like kids who wait for Mom and Dad to turn away, we slip food under the table to his waiting mouth. His wagging tail repeatedly hits our legs, in an effort to thank us, as he trots to the next table. I can only imagine the things our unexpected visitor overhears. From one table to the next, talk of loving orphans in Uganda, bringing hope to commercial sex workers in India, or moving hearts in Bolivia. He’s probably heard...

Hotlanta.

We spent our first night in the Safe House in Atlanta. Late that night, we were sent in to the downtown streets of Hotlanta to hang out with people. I wasn’t very excited about this and a little nervous. My comfort was in the cafeteria, bus or mall. You know? Well lit areas. With my team, we set off. Our area was beside the hospital. Ruthann and I saw two young girls sitting on a curb, so we joined them.  Masey was Asian and the other was Hispanic. Masey’s brother was in the hospital have scans because he jumped into a pool and hit his head. We told them was we were doing...

Joshua: Love to a Stranger

After a night in Atlanta, we bussed out to Gainesville, GA, where the AIM (Adventures In Missions) HQ is,  for “training” and team development. After the first day, this little black lab pug mix puppy with no collar came walking out of the woods from no where.                           He has since stayed at the camp and spent his days walking around all of the messengers. Perhaps he’s looking for food, perhaps he’s just looking for...

Thy rod and Thy staff.

When I first got to training, my anxiety increased. I was terrified of the lack of communication I will have on the field. I realized that what I would be missing was comfort from my family and friends. I would simply miss being with them and they joy they provide. I began to pray that the Lord would provide comfort. His words came to mind,  “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.” My prayer is that I find all I need in Him....

Wrecked for the Ordinary!

From the moment that we left the airport, the Lord has been changing and molding my heart- revealing plans and casting visions that he has for me on this trip. The first night we were in Atlanta- we met for worship and listened to the director of  the “real life” program speak truth and wisdom over us. Through him, the Lord began revealing a lot about who I was and what the Lord wanted to change in my heart. The Lord began igniting passion and challenging me in ways that made me nervous/ anxious/ EXCITED! That first night, our assignment was to go to our designated...
