“If you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen”

The smell of rice, beans, and plantains filled my nostrils my new Nike’s(which could probably buy these cooks better cooking equipment) are covered in dirt. On Ometepe Island flies are your friends the sooner you realize that the better off you’ll be. This is only my second full day here and its as if I’ve been here for a lifetime…. Enough with the poetry, is it hot here? All the time. Food? So much better than the american diet I’ve been locked into for years. Kids? They are amazing at sports.  This is how we communicate.. Now that we have established...

The Journey to CICRIN

Family and friends, As the last blog said, we’ve officially made it to Nicaragua! I just wanted to share a little bit of the journey with you all, photograph style. Enjoy!   After training camp, our travel began in the Atlanta airport, where we spent our last hours in the states eating American foods (like Chic-Fil-A) and watching the sunset.                             By 6:30 pm, we were all boarded and ready to go. We landed around 9pm local time, and met with one of AIM’s contacts who had a place...

Arrival in Nicaragua!

Our Spring 2015 team has officially arrived in Nicarauga!  The leaders called late last night while they were still at the airport, but with their contact.  Their travel from Atlanta was uneventful and smooth.  The team will spend the coming days getting introduced to their ministry, coming to know the culture, and finding a routine for the months ahead.   They will be getting internet within the week so that they can communicate home and share more about what their days and weeks will look like.  Until then, we wanted to let you know that all is well.  Hope...

Training Camp

Team N-I-C-A-R-A-G-U-A The last official Training Camp session ended last night.  It was a incredible week of worship, teachings, activities, team-bonding and an occasional dance party.  The team joined the Adventure’s staff for weekly worship this morning and we were able to come around them and pray for God to show up in their lives (in the ways only He can) throughout the coming three months.  We are expectant for great things!   The group is now at the Atlanta airport preparing to board their direct flight to central America.  Here’s to an incredible...

Help Me Find My Own Flame

I don’t want to ride on somebody else’s passion I don’t want to find that I’m just dry bones I want to burn with unquenchable fire Deep down inside see it coming alive   Help me find my own flame Help me find my own fire I want the real thing I want Your burning desire   Do what only You can do In my heart tonight,   There’s no better time There’s no better time There’s no better time There’s no better time   So many times in ministry and as believers we compare ourselves to others… Whether it be in prayer worship or...

Mundane Faithfulness

I stare at the bright white screen that lights up my face in my bunk bed as the rain is gently falling on the tin roof and the fan is set on “1” to keep me from sweating again after my second shower of the day. Nothing. So many thoughts are swirling around in my head, yet none of them are typed. A new medium: black ballpoint BIC ink pen and a half-used college-ruled notebook that I used for a college class which I obviously didn’t take enough notes in. Nothing. The writer’s block doesn’t budge. Am I allowed to say that? One must be a writer in order to posses...
