Island Life

Originally I had typed up a post while waiting for our flight at the airport. Sadly I was never able to post it but have decided to share it with you anyway. I want to give you all a good example of how life is here in Nicaragua. Today Is The Day Today is the day; we are officially on our way to Nicaragua! Currently my team and I are waiting in the Atlanta Airport on our flight scheduled for 6:10 pm. If our flight is not delayed we should be arriving in Managua, Nicaragua around 9:40 pm. From there we will find a hostel to spend the night, catch the ferry early in the morning, and be at CICRIN...

Mundane Faithfulness

I stare at the bright white screen that lights up my face in my bunk bed as the rain is gently falling on the tin roof and the fan is set on “1” to keep me from sweating again after my second shower of the day. Nothing. So many thoughts are swirling around in my head, yet none of them are typed. A new medium: black ballpoint BIC ink pen and a half-used college-ruled notebook that I used for a college class which I obviously didn’t take enough notes in. Nothing. The writer’s block doesn’t budge. Am I allowed to say that? One must be a writer in order to posses the...

When Dreamworld Meets A Punch From Life

I dream a lot both during the day and at night. I dream about where I’d like to be, places to go, cultures to experience, what I see myself doing, who I want to be with, and more. Then, something amazing happens! I sometimes actually get there to those places I had envisioned or dreamed about. So many memories and moments turn into fuel for more dreams resulting from these trips. Yet, I have a problem. I sometimes get caught up in the thinking and dreaming so much, that I have a difficult time in the now. I’m where the “rubber meets the road”. It’s life. It’s...

Why Was I Chosen?

Imagine this… 90 degree weather, 70 plus percent humidity, no air conditioning and scorching sun. Most people in the US would look at that and go into cardiac arrest. And to be honest the last three weeks I thought I was going to die at 19 from a heart attack. (joking, kinda).  These past few weeks I’ve constantly being asking myself the question of, “why am I here?”. Why did God choose ME of all people in the world to come to Nicaragua? A girl who loves her make-up, her lotions and perfumes, her hair clean, her armpits shaven, her nails done and her skin zit...

See, What Had Happened Was…

What am I talking about? Well, we all have different experiences in life. There are both good and difficult times in our lives…right? However, if we base our life off what happens to us, then our moods, attitudes, and thinking changes as easily as the breeze changes directions. There’s nothing stable about it. Let’s say you’ve had an amazing experience. You’ve been blessed with gifts you weren’t expecting, people treat you really well, you may hear from God, and etc. These are all great, but if you stay so focused on this specific time and always reliving...

Everything by Lifehouse in Spanish!

While serving for three months in Nicaragua as Passport missionaries with Adventures in Missions, we decided to recreate the drama to the song “Everything” by Lifehouse. After we gave a short talk about drugs and alcohol and how they will never fill the place that was created for Jesus, we presented this skit. https://vimeo.com/105926872
