Rain

So this is going to be short. I had something I wanted to blog about but I can´t get the words to come out right. I´ll write it eventually though. But last night here was beyond anything I can express in words. So I´ll just tell you what it did for me. It is technically rainy season for Nicaragaua, but this week was very dry and hot. We were all just hoping for rain. It didn´t happen. It has also been a pretty trying week for a lot of us. We have been dealing with different sicknesses and just being a somewhat miserable. Last night we had an amazing worship time that went on for...

Lindy (Be Ridiculous!)

For Your Amusement: The kids call me Lindy. It´s easier to pronounce and it stuck with everyone, truth be told, I kinda like it. They love screaming LINDY! when I walk by in the barrios. After an afternoon of playing soccer with some kids, I came inside and was sitting by the guitar. Several kids followed me in, and one girl shouted ¨Lindy, toca la guitara por favor!¨ If you know me at all, you know that I do NOT play the guitar, nor do I have any musical talent what-so-ever. But hey, when in Nicaragua, go for the gold and live dangerously. So I picked up this silly guitar and strummed...

He WILL answer

Our team split into smaller groups of about 5 and were going to do what God planned for us that day.  Before our team headed out into the barrios, we asked God to reveal something, an image, a word, anything.  Several of us confirmed that He wanted us to meet a family and develop a relationship with them, not just hang out with a bunch of kids. We headed into the barrios and started talking to a woman and a couple of kids outside of their house. Before we knew it, 3 other women and about a hundred more of their kids came out to talk to us. They were all related and lived in the...

More Like Home

God is absolutely amazing. I can´t even begin to describe the things He´s doing here. We moved into the youth center and in less than a week we´ve had over a hundred kids come to the youth center. Our ministry is really starting to pick up, we´re going into the barrios to talk to people. Alot of the team members are beginning to build strong relationships with the locals. We even have a bread and a fruit lady now =). We´ve hung our canvas up in the kitchen to add a homey touch. We finally got a stove and the other day we prayed for rain. God gave us running water! an unlimited supply, I...

And then the rains came

I have been learning so much. First off God is everywhere. In every little back corner bush house. He is there. I don´t know why it took me coming here to realize that. That he has people working for him everywhere. He talk to people here a lot more then he does in the states i think anyway.  There is a womens group that meets once a week and we wen once. It was just in someones house and they invited us. They sang sounds and praised God and told their stories. It was great. They really have a heart for their people and want to see a different life for their children. God is using them...

Character Over Comfort

One of the things that we´ve been talking about quite frequently here in Nica is that God cares more about our character than our comfort. Though He is never going to put us into situations we can´t handle, He does put us in situations that stretch what we know, and help us, if not force us to grow as a person. How can a person ever grow if they´re only doing what they know best?   I was pretty stoked to find out we´d be doing a lot with kids here, because that´s what I´m good at. Kids are kind of my safety net. I don´t really need to strain myself when I´m with them. Matt and I were...
