My Life Be Like…

I’m here!  And my, what a crazy ten days it’s already been!  I’m caught in a strange paradox of feeling as if I’ve only been here a short time, while at the same moment feeling as if I’ve always been here.  Regardless, I love the time that I’ve spent with the people and the culture of Nicaragua so far.  Eventually I would love to share with you all more of the “deep stuff,” but I’m still delving into my own heart and the hearts of the people here- so for this post, hopefully it’s all right with you that I just...

Just call me Juan Messi

“Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you expected.” – Unknown Coming in, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. Interesting food, broken hearts mended, and a few laughs along the way, but this trip has been far more than that thus far. It’s now been a full week since I landed in Nicaragua, a country filled with needs beyond your wildest imagination. Next to Haiti, Nicaragua is 2nd in the “poorest countries” category in the Western Hemisphere. What amazes me is how little these people have that live in the barrios or neighborhood...

I am Free to Dance

Wreck my world were the three words that I prayed for coming into training camp. I continued to speak those words without full comprehension of the power they have and can bring when you ask God for that. The messages, worship, and community time is something that the Lord told me to engage in with complete freedom. I allowed him to answer my prayer, and turn my ear to heaven and hear the noise inside. Full sacrifice, although difficult at...

How do you Move?

We arrived in Nicaragua Tuesday at 7:30pm and arrived at la quinta around 10 Nicaragua time. We have a house with 3 rooms one room has 11 girls, 4 in another and the two boys have their own room.  Our first full day we hung out, organized our living situation, walked the compound and took a couple naps and attended our first church service. Later that evening we recieved our assignment. We were told that we were going to be street evgangelizing. This means we are going to be dancing and preforming dramas in the street to get the people in the barrios out of their homes and into the...

Dios Esta Con Usted

We went into the barrios for the second time yesterday. We visited many homes and prayed over many people, but one family in particular stands out in my mind. We were invited by a woman into her home to pray, and our group stepped into a one room house, no bigger than my living room. I counted nine people inside, including a couple of young children, and for these nine people were two beds, two chairs, and a small fire in the corner of the room holding a medium sized pot of simmering soup. Sitting on one if the beds was a baby, probably about 18 months old, and the woman told us that...
