There is hope in the dry season

As I'm typing this, I can hear the pounding of the first storm of the rainy season and the rain as it thunders on the tin roof of our building. And even as I sit here, I feel refreshed.   Rain has always had a magical influence on me, symbolizing something powerful and majestic.  I loved the rainy season growing up in Arizona.  August is burning hot, no relief from the temperature and humidity…. Until you see that wall of gray in the distance.  That rolling clap of thunder, that sweet scent that hangs temptingly in the air and the hope that comes with...

My non-existent socks have been sufficiently blown off.

God is teaching me about the beauty of new seasons. He's also teaching me about goodbyes. We are a team of 10 now. A team that has been shaped and molded by our creator into disciples, devoted to following His will to the ends of the earth. We have been impacted and influenced by the most amazing people! Shout out to our precious World Race teams, Tharros & ALL.love branch, who had a big part in that! Thank you for ALL you did ot encourage us and lift us up. God is good! He is still amazing me all the time with His perfect timing. It's when I'm...

I would rather say NOTHING at all…

"Now, if we can only keep a firm grip on this bold confidence, we're the HOUSE! That's why the Holy Spirit says,  Today, please LISTEN;  don't turn a deaf ear  as in 'the bitter uprising,' that time of wilderness testing!  Even though they watched me at work for forty years, your ancestors REFUSED to let me do it my way; over and over they tried my patience. And I was provoked, oh, so provoked!  I said, 'They'll never keep their minds on God;  they refuse to walk down my road.'  Exasperated, I...

Faith Over Feelings (Marching On)

Sometimes you just have to do things you really don't want to do. This trip I've had plenty of days where I woke up thinking, “I really don't feel like going to ministry today.” There were plenty of circumstances when it would have been easier to just shrug my shoulders and not try to understand the fast, slurred Spanish of the person in front of me. This trip I've learned a lot about perseverance and trusting God. At particular moments of exhaustion or burnout, I didn't understand the impact weeks of painting and working at an orphanage could have upon...

Be ALL There

“Where ever you are, be all there” A quote with only a few words, but words that have so much meaning behind them. Something I want to start doing is truly embracing every moment, and where ever I am truly being all there. So many times I find myself saying, I don’t know what God wants with my life, I don’t know what He is calling me to. But the truth is we don’t always have to have a deep revelation of what is to come. God wants to use us right where we’re at; we just have to have a willing heart. God gives us passions and talents for a reason, they...

The pesticide takes another man

And the village stops again. Week after week the village of Bethel and the surrounding villages that we are working with stop whatever they are doing when they hear the news. Immediately they will start informing their neighbors, friends, family, and the outside villages. Within an hour people are arriving to comfort the families and friends. Another person has just died. The village is not chaotic because it has become a normal routine for the village to stop. They know what to do because the village stops usually once a week. Thousands of men have been infected with a kidney disease that...
