Si Senor, Si Si Senor…

This week was another week full of work, personal time with Jesus, group bonding, and TONS more painting for the roof of the house that a group of Costa Rican men are putting on the house that is being built.   Climactic events this week included:   1)      One of the precious boys here was kind enough to throw a stick at a wasps nest encouraging over 25 wasps to chase me. Thankfully I was only stung by one; but my ear swelled up like crazy! First sting: CHECK 2)      As to be expected there are an unlimited amount tarantulas...

Born into New Life!

So there we were, spending on day off on Saturday at the beach in Nicaragua. At the beautiful Pacific ocean. It was hot and sunny, a gorgeous day and the water was so warm. The hottest water that we’ve had since we left home! It was such a perfect day. We were celebrating Hannah’s 21st birthday and both teams were together. Pastor Lynne and Glenn were with us as well. We had spent the morning at a beautiful waterfall, hanging out on the rocks and in the water. Now we were spending the rest of the day hanging out at the beach. At one point as I was strolling on the beach with Sarah...

The Road to Redemption!

Baptised on the beach in Nicaragua. The most spiritual and amazing experience. How did this come to happen you may ask? Well, it all started after a night of prayer with my team. Thursday night I guess that Karina and Emma could tell that everyone was feeling a little strained emotionally and physically because that night after feedback we had a prayer circle. It was a time for us to hear about what was affecting everyone physically or emotionally and pray for them as a team. It was a beautiful and powerful experience. As we prayed for each person and their concern separately we surrounded them...

Along a country road

Yesterday was the first day we had to do whatever we wanted for ministry because our leaders were gone and we didn’t have to do anything with the Nicaraguans. I was in a group with Sarah Cobb and Tim. We felt like God was telling us to take the road that leads to the country. Sarah felt like we needed to go to a house with a blue door and that we needed to pray over a mother and her baby that was sick. We stopped at about seven houses, most of which had blue doors. We didn’t find the mother and baby, but we met several interesting people. At the first house we went to, there didn’t...

Here we are!

Here we are. We’ve made it halfway already and I’m sitting here wondering where the time has gone so fast. After today there will be more time behind us then there is before. I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about that. Of course I realize that I’m closer to seeing my family and friends but then I know that I have people here on my team and Nicaraguans who also have a piece of my heart now. When I think about leaving the people at La Quinta I’m heartbroken and know that it will be one of the hardest things I will ever have to do. But since I still have...

Cleansing Rain!

I stood in the pouring Nicaraguan rain the other night with Sarah C. It was the most relaxing and freeing experience. It was spiritual and healing. I felt like the rain was washing me of all the unimportant things I dwell on back at home. I was just standing in the dark in the clean rain of nature. I’ve noticed that about this place though, I feel free of the constraints and rules of society. I have no cell phone, no T.V, very limited internet and I absolutely love it! I’m completely free to just be who I am, no restrictions. Being here in the night, outside with no sounds of the...
