Sketchy times on a roof..

It's been a while since my last blog, so I felt it was necessary for me to let my readers know how I am doing. Things continue to move alone very fast at Nueva Vida, as we just finished up VBS last week which turned out to be a huge success. Props to everyone on Team Nueva Vida for making that happen. Last Thursday, we went out into the barrios with the older kids to do some "house repair". Earlier in the week, our team purchased some tarp so that we could put the tarp over the roofs of some houses in the barrios. We got to the first house with about 15 of us, and we started...

being baptized

last saturday was our free day. we went to the waterfall first and then the beach. As most of you know i have been baptized before but i was very young and i did not remember anything about it. Being on this trip i have heard about how you are made new in christ and that if you ask the spirit of the lord will come upon you. I wanted to be made new in christ. So i had been praying about it and i talked to my leader emma and asked if i could be baptized. she thought that it would be an awesome thing. so she talked to pastor glen and he said he would do it. So here we are at the ocean. My...

Where was Noah when the lights went off??

…In the dark! The power went off, it was 8 at night and we were gathered in a circle for team time. Team time is something we do every night. It is a time for us all to encourage each other, plan future projects and share about our day. Any way the room went completely dark for about 5 minutes. But we just kept on talking, pretending we could see each others faces. We continue to go into the barrios and to the senior center. I am really sad though, because we no longer go to the school for disabled children. The school is closed for some kind of holiday and wont be open again until...

restoration for families in the barrios

I have not kept up with my blogs.  I have let a week go.  A lot has been going on.  In my last blog I mentioned about a dark battle we are facing. we have hit the root of the darkness here.  There is so much darkness.  But despite it, we still are able to have fun here.  The darkness is not the focus but it is evident in many places.  We are in a country that has experienced war and is recovering from it.  There are not good spirits here.  But in it all, god is giving us His light and guiding us forward.  We...

Nicaragua VS America!

As you could probably imagine, there are a few differences between The United States of America and Nicaragua.  I have realized that I love my country and I am SO thankful to God that I was born and raised in that great country.  On a different note, I am falling more and more in love with this country everyday.     I love the smells, I love the kids, I love the people, I love the food, I love the culture.     We have been here for about four weeks and I have started to notice some of the differences.   In America, we don’t leave the...

USA v. Nicaragua

Although this is an older story, it is well worth blogging about. About a week ago, a team of 7 of us went out for a prayer walk. Halfway into our walk, Kelli suggested we stop to pray about our hearts and that we can put them in the right place. The perfect suggestion. We stopped to pray and at the conclusion of the prayer, my heart felt different, I felt different. God wanted to show me something that day. About 50 yards down the road, we came across 15 or so Nicaraguan kids playing baseball on a basketball court. We stopped and talked to them for awhile. After attempted broken spanish...
