So since we have officially arrived in Nicaragua, things have been full of pleasant surprises. First of all, I was sort of expecting to eating leaves and sticks to keep full and using a doily to keep dry, and yet, here I find myself staying a beautiful hotel where we are fed probably more than I would normally eat at home (although the meals have a little more beans and rice than I might normally pick). I was expecting to have tone my bizarreness down considering I was going to be in the midst of southern missionaries, but I´ve found some kindred spirites who actually think my absurdity is kind of funny. There are other things, but the gist is that things have been very pleasant and comfort isn´t something I lack.
For a quick summary of what has been going on here, we´ve had a mixture of relational bonding with the beautiful strangers here in Nicaragua, many of which are in dire need of the love we have to give them. There is also a spectacular ministry organization here who is setting up an accredited school and place for children here for the impovrished people who live in makeshift homes of cardboard and aluminum. We´ve been helping them by transporting 130 pound bricks and painting the rooms of an old property where things are meant to take off.
I miss you all, Hope to speak to you soon.
