Haha The Woman!

I played soccer. That’s right me running and kicking a ball.  Yes I actually kicked the ball….twice.  The kids on my team and on the opposing team kept pointing and laughing saying “the woman”.  Apparently they weren’t impressed with my soccer skills.  Oh well.  I shall be a pro by the time I go home. We have gone into the slums which are called the barrios, twice now.  The people that live in the barrios have shockingly little, yet they are still so happy. They invite us into their small homes,  most of which are just a few...

Lovin’ life in Nica!

Hey everyone,  Well I have no idea what to write today because so much has happened! God is doing amazing things so far…most of the people we visited in the Barrios yesterday (the neighborhood near where we are staying) actually showed up at church which is amazing! We got to pray for the women and children in the hospital yesterday which was amazing. I will post a new blog once I figure out what exactly to write but I just wanted everyone to know God is doing great things. Thanks for the continued prayers!

How do you Move?

We arrived in Nicaragua Tuesday at 7:30pm and arrived at la quinta around 10 Nicaragua time. We have a house with 3 rooms one room has 11 girls, 4 in another and the two boys have their own room.  Our first full day we hung out, organized our living situation, walked the compound and took a couple naps and attended our first church service. Later that evening we recieved our assignment. We were told that we were going to be street evgangelizing. This means we are going to be dancing and preforming dramas in the street to get the people in the barrios out of their homes and into the...

Mi Familia Nueva

Two months never sounded so long as when I sat in my new bed at La Quinta late Tuesday night. The air was hot and muggy, our filtered water was almost unbearable and our walls were home to a rather unassuming pair of geckos. Our host, Juanita, had sweetly watched the fifteen of us pile into our three-bedroom, two-bath home, and though we were pleased to find that we had running water and enough mattresses for everyone I think we were all realizing how difficult our next eight weeks might be. I was both terrified and thrilled that I would probably have to rely on God more than I ever had in...

Soli Deo Gloria

Coming to Nicaragua, I had no idea of what to expect. I have absolutely enjoyed this experience. There has been one adventure after another & not a day happens how you would expect it to, which is great! Growing with the team & becoming a family has helped so much. To see everyone come together & step in to do things for God is so encouraging. The lifestyle is so different from what I am used to, but not just from being in a new country, sharing a room with 11 other girls & spending all your time with 14 other people defintitely changes things, but I totally love it. We have...

Dios Esta Con Usted

We went into the barrios for the second time yesterday. We visited many homes and prayed over many people, but one family in particular stands out in my mind. We were invited by a woman into her home to pray, and our group stepped into a one room house, no bigger than my living room. I counted nine people inside, including a couple of young children, and for these nine people were two beds, two chairs, and a small fire in the corner of the room holding a medium sized pot of simmering soup. Sitting on one if the beds was a baby, probably about 18 months old, and the woman told us that...
