Unveiling Darkness

After being in Nicaragua for about a week or more we weren’t seeing a lot of the darkness that we felt we were going to be encountering from training camp. We just kept going on day by day, going into the barrios meeting the people & praying for them & playing with the local kids. Don’t get me wrong, it was a lot of fun & great building those relationships. Hearts and Burglar Bars

Here for a Purpose!

I wear shoes all the time. I brush my teeth using a water bottle. I use the toilet with other people in the bathroom. My feet are always dirty – I’m not sure they will ever be clean again. I walk through mud on a daily basis. I’ve eaten enough rice and beans to last me a lifetime. I’m living out of a suitcase. My clothes don’t smell fresh. My showers are cold. I’m never by myself. Cleansing Rain!

I stood in the pouring Nicaraguan rain the other night with Sarah C. It was the most relaxing and freeing experience. It was spiritual and healing. I felt like the rain was washing me of all the unimportant things I dwell on back at home. I was just standing in the dark in the clean rain of nature. I’ve noticed that about this place though, I feel free of the constraints and rules of society. I have no cell phone, no T.V, very limited internet and I absolutely love it!
