The Good Ole South

As a native California girl, I never thought I would say this, but I love the South. I have had some really good fried chicken and seen some adorable houses with porches and rocking chairs. Chivalry is very much alive and well here. Georgia also enjoys naming everything after peaches, making it difficult to differentiate between freeway exits. Residing in Northeastern Georgia, training camp with the Adventures in Missions has definitely been an adventure thus far. We attend two spiritual sessions a day and participate in team bonding activities. Some of our team bonding...

We have surrendered

Training camp….      The first things that pop into my mind when I think of my time here at training camp are great relationships and awesome worship.       Arriving at Toccoa Falls was super exciting, because it felt like the first day of kindergarten. Everybody was so happy to meet each other and we automatically started building friendships, despite our different personalities. We are children of God, and it's so encouraging to see how child-like we actually are.      The worship I experienced was amazing and I could definitely...

What time is it?

It's GO Time. (…or game time) The past 3 days have been so encouraging and freeing. I am surrounded by people who have such a love for God and His children. My group has  already connected in such an awesome way, despite the fact that we have only known each other for a short time. How did AIM train us for such a CRAZY adventure, you might ask? Here is the answer: – creating an atmosphere to worship in order for us to hear God's voice and his incredible promises for our lives -"throwing" us into a "tibe" of people who spoke using clicking noises...

Woah

Woah Woah is such a convenient word! If you start to think about it, you begin to realize how many different moments you can use it for.   Shocked, confused, in awe, and amazed all represent what woah can be used for. I think that the word woah describes my time here at training camp perfectly. I have been shocked, I have been a bit confused at times, but most definitely I have been amazed. I am amazed how in only four days by how much I have been able to learn about myself and amazed at how 15 people from across the states can bond so easily with each other.   People have...

You Give BEAUTY For Our Ashes

Something I have been praying about for what seems like years, is that God will make his love REAL to me. That I won't just say the words and go through the motions, but that I will genuinely FEEL God's perfect love moving in and through me. My prayers have definitely been answered these past few days, and in perfect timing too. My time at training camp has been unlike any other experience.  I had no idea what to expect coming here, and honestly I thought it would be just like any other seminar type event.  I was wrong.  We jumped right into worship on friday night...

Stepping Out

This is my first blogging experience. There’s a reason for that: It makes me uncomfortable. Going places I have never been and stepping out of my comfort zone has become a major theme in my life over the past few years, and it has been delightful.      Tomorrow, I will be on a plane headed for Nicaragua with people who were strangers to me just about 4 days ago. This is once again, me stepping out of my comfort zone. This past week I have been preparing to take this big step by taking smaller steps to solidify my trust in God and build...
