“He’s not homeless. He’s a prince.”

This week we are back at Cicirin and while part of me wishes we could stay in Balgue for our last month, I know that God is not done with us at Cicrin yet. This week, my daily service ministry was painting. My teammate, Trinity and I painted a lot of ceiling and half of a room this week. We jammed out to disney and backstreet boys and got covered in paint (that was mostly me actually) and continued to grow in relationship with each other.   We also got back to spending time with the kids here and having nightly hang outs with them. They really are starting to attach to us and a lot of...

School House Rockin’

This past week I was given the opportunity to help at the school. I am mot going to lie; i was really nervous and a little scared that they would make me teach.  Just to give you some info- There are about 100 kids at the school, and the school consists of about 4-5 classrooms that are connected to a hallway/sidewalk  that is outside.  Anyways, Monday morning Madison and I headed to the school, and when we got there they sent her to preschool and me to first and second grade which are the most spirited of the bunch. The teacher greeted me with a look desperation on her face...

His Plans Are Bigger

Last week I got the chance to leave the Island and the comfort of Cicrin. We spent one week on the mainland doing ministry there. The first two mornings we were there we spent going to schools to sing, dance around, and pray for each class. I have never seen so many screaming children, running out of their class rooms trying to get a look at us.    Everyday that we spent there God really showed me that He is everywhere. The church that we worked with met at a ladies house where there was pigs and chickens running around. There was about 15 people that would come and spend...

Weeds

This week we have spent each morning with makeup of sweat and dirt. It is a good time, even if the girl's house has their favorite song on repeat (and repeat again, again, and again). We really wish that we could use the weeds for our dinner. It might be possible to feed the whole island.  Here is Ometepe, plants grow bigger and faster. Between the heat and the rain, it is prime territory to grow. This mean that great fruits and vegetable can be grown here, as well as great weeds. CICRIN has a big garden that is utilized for cooking. We have had some great fruit a couple of...

Change: Natural, Unexpected, Gradual, and Unknown

It's been awhile. But in that while, I have learned a new important detail. What change really means, and how many definitions of change there actually is. Some change just seems so natural. For example,in high school, most people have expectations, whether to graduate, to get their GED at a later date, to go on to college, or to go right into the workforce. Many people see the change coming. This is the expected change. While their might be a little fear in the process, it is something that everyone goes through and knows they will go through. It is also the change that...

Hush Up and Listen

It’s official, we are halfway through our time here in Nicaragua! As I write this I realize I’m not at all sure how I want that sentence to read. Is it a “Yay, we’re halfway home!” kind of thing, or is it more of a “What?! We’re halfway done?!” Every time I read it over I change my mind, so I think I’ll leave the interpretation up to you. Being at the halfway point also brought up a few questions for my team, such as: Have we been making a difference? Are we doing all that God would have us do? Will the bugs ever stop biting us? While...
