I´m learning about how God answers prayer: He´s burdened my heart for teen ministry during our time here and we hadn´t come across too many opportunities yet but…..
During a pickup game of soccer the other day, i met a seventeen year old girl named Maricella. She asked if i liked to play volleyball….me, well yesss of course. Our conversation about volleyball turned to planning a day for her to bring her school team to come play with a group of us at the center. From there, a few of my teammates and i sat down and chatted for over an hour with Maricella and three of her friends. But God opened the door even wider…they opened up to us a little about their past, what they want for the future, and their dreams. They asked if they could bring their english book back the next day so they could practice their english, and we could practice our spanish.
They came back as they promised the next day and instead of studying spanish the whole time, they broke out nailpolish and we did each others nails for two hours, just like we were life long friends!! They let us get a peek into their culture and what they liked to do. When we walked them home, we walked arm in arm back to the barrio and Maricella insisted on introducing us to her father.
I´m so excited to see how God is creating this relationship. He´s blessed us with so much trust already, but please pray that He will continue to grow our friendship and allow us to speak into one another´s lives.
also, i´m very excited about Hannah and I´s upcoming fiesta at the nursing home with the quatro amigas (hannah, me, rosa and our toothless friend). Wé´re having a pinata and quesadillas. its gonna be sickkkk
