Wonderful Love

Have you ever thought about how wonderful God´s love is? He died so He would be more than enough, but do we really know what that means? He´s more than enough for our pains, for our worries, our hungers, everything. And He´s shown us that over and over again here. As I think back on how everyone on our team was in the beggining to how they are now. There has been such a drastic growth. Chains have been broken and faith has been increased. People are stepping into the roles God has called them into, and He´s still not finished with them. But not only is He working on us He´s working on the...

WWJD

WWJD. What would Jesus do? LITERALLY.   Blair and Patrice gave us the challenge one of the first weeks we were here to open our Bibles, read the red words of Jesus, and then DO THEM. Go to the streets and be Jesus. This idea has stuck with me throughout our time here. We are so accustomed to planning, analyzing, revising, and overcomplicating. The reality is that the love of Christ is simple. And POWERFUL.   ¨Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.¨- 1 John 4:7   ¨Therefore be imitators of God as dear...

Who gave the clutz the food?

Yesterday my team felt called to fast together… all 24 of us chose to not eat food for the entire day and to focus on God even more. I´ve fasted before; others had not, but it was still challenging for everyone. Food plays such a role in all our lives. I had to really work not to be tired from the lack of energy that usually comes in my food. By mistake, our leader forgot to cancel our dinner order for the day, which meant that we received 24 portions of carne asada, plantains, and coleslaw. So what do you do with 24 meals when no one is eating? You bring it into the barrios–...

When Smiles are like Sunshine

Yesturday I went to the mens rehab center. They have change so much since our first week going there. When we got there they were ready for our service, sitting in their chairs. There was deffinately something different in the air. They usally look so down and have an air of defeat, but I can tell that we are getting to them. So we decided to do a foot washing service to show them what it means to be a servant and how Jesus came to serve. They were taken aback for sure. How it worked was someone would take a man to the basin, wash their feet , and then a couple of us would pray over them. I...

Rain, Rain Come Again

It began to rain, HARD.  Shelby and I were in the barrios running to our friend Angel´s house when the storm hit.   We entered Angel´s house soaking wet leaving water all over the floor.  After praying that God would heal her brain tumor so that should could walk again, she told us she her legs and head no longer hurt.  God´s faithfulness gave us encouragement to endeavor back into the rain to run to one of our favorite familes, the Modestos.  We treked up the hill with water rushing down with such happiness that could have only come from Him.  Once we...

Pinata

Yesterday was a day of JOY and HOPE.  Half the group went to the nursing home in the morning to see the old folks, and we brought a pinata along for the ride.  I don´t know if I could describe how funny it was to watch 97-year-old, 50-pound Rosa beat away at the paper machetti bear…and then to watch another elder man dance his little heart out as he was so excited to go at it too.  They all loved being outside and I know I really enjoyed their presence as well.  There is so much hope in Christ and I truly feel this was felt amongst all the elders yesterday. It was...
