"Faith, when walking through the dark with God, only asks Him to hold his hand more tightly." Phillip Brooks     Two weeks ago, Saleena and I stayed in the barrios with the Perez family. It was absolutely incredible, but due to lack of time I am only going to tell one story.  At some point I would like to also share the story of my whole time living with them.    It was a Thursday night.  Saleena and I had eaten, once again, a...

Touched but not Healed

A couple of weeks ago, Calah and myself stayed with the Perez family in the barrios. At the house lives the momma, her daughter (Yuri), her son (Jorge), and Yuri's two sons (Jimmy and Byron). The US State Department issued a worldwide travel advisory for all US citizens abroad, anticipating the possibility of retaliatory violence by Bin Laden sympathizers. While none of our Real Life teams are in high-threat areas, we have been in contact with them to keep them aware of ongoing events and to be sure they are all safe.

A Little Slice of a Typical Nicaraguan Night…

As I sit here on the kitchen floor on a couple of foam pads, brought from our bedroom with my girl Jennifer, I realize the lack of things to do after dinner. It has been just Jen, Alisa, and I for four nights now and because Alisa is working so hard on a promo video Jennifer and I frequently find ourselves very bored. The nightly question arises around 7 pm after eating dinner, Jen asks "Beer'knee, what are you gonna do tonight?" and the response is always the same, "Jen, I dont know." I should probably explain the whole...
