Ministry on the Streets!

Imagine the dirtiest and most rundown place you know. Got that picture in your head?? Now there’s a good chance that it does not compare to the barrio’s (slums) in which we have ministered in the last few days. This week we started out street ministry for “Mission 70”. Our street ministry is an amazing and humbling experience as we meet so many beautiful children and their families. They are so happy even though they own nothing. And I tell you that we are in a place with nothing. I’ve seen houses made of plastic bags and children with no shoes. It’s...

Dancin’ in the streets

This past week has been the first week for our street evangelism outreach.  Last week we spent many hours learning crazy dances, funny skits, and serious human video type dramas to perform in the streets of the slum areas.  To start off on Wednesday, we piled 17 people in and on a 7 person car.  You never know what the transportation will be like here in Nicaragua.  We arrived at the location safely and started talking to people about what we were going to do and told them to come watch.     After a few minutes of that, we got started with our dancing and...

His Perfect Love Drives Out Fears

Matthew 11: 28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give your rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” So much is happening and time feels like forever when it has only been a week. I look around at what these people have here and I am often saddened by the fact that we Americans are never satisfied with our five bedroom houses for our three-person family; but, then I am also so grateful for warm water to take a shower and air...

My Life Be Like…

I’m here!  And my, what a crazy ten days it’s already been!  I’m caught in a strange paradox of feeling as if I’ve only been here a short time, while at the same moment feeling as if I’ve always been here.  Regardless, I love the time that I’ve spent with the people and the culture of Nicaragua so far.  Eventually I would love to share with you all more of the “deep stuff,” but I’m still delving into my own heart and the hearts of the people here- so for this post, hopefully it’s all right with you that I just...
