Nicaragua VS America!

As you could probably imagine, there are a few differences between The United States of America and Nicaragua.  I have realized that I love my country and I am SO thankful to God that I was born and raised in that great country.  On a different note, I am falling more and more in love with this country everyday.     I love the smells, I love the kids, I love the people, I love the food, I love the culture.     We have been here for about four weeks and I have started to notice some of the differences.   In America, we don’t leave the...

restoration for families in the barrios

I have not kept up with my blogs.  I have let a week go.  A lot has been going on.  In my last blog I mentioned about a dark battle we are facing. we have hit the root of the darkness here.  There is so much darkness.  But despite it, we still are able to have fun here.  The darkness is not the focus but it is evident in many places.  We are in a country that has experienced war and is recovering from it.  There are not good spirits here.  But in it all, god is giving us His light and guiding us forward.  We...

Take that up with the appropriate committee.

d   Living in community is a great thing!  We have fifteen people between the ages of 18 and 24 living very closely.  It took a few days to get used to it but now I can’t imagine living any other way.  When we go home I know that I will feel so lonely.  I will be in what will seem like a huge house with only three people.  Anyway, one thing that comes with living in community with other people is that delegation of duties is necessary.  To make this more fun, we created committees.  This came about  as a sort of accident but now we...

Proclaiming the Gospel on July 4th in Nicaragua

We started off our day on Wednesday July 4th by asking God what we should do that day.  We lately have been asking God to direct our steps and lead us to where we need to go.  The results thus far has been great.  So our leaders had some things to take care of and told us the night before what we would be doing and had us pray about our groups and where we would be going.  I was praying and all I saw was Hope’s face.  Hope is one of the better Spanish speakers we have in the group and she is really great.     The next morning I woke up and we...

Let It Rain

From the time I started getting ready for this trip there has been a word in my head that I, especially now, feel explains our desire for Nicaragua. Rain. In Nicaragua right now it is their rainy season. I found this out as I was trying to figure out what kinds of clothes to pack for this trip. There is a song called “My Soul Longs for You” by Misty Edwards that has a line it in that says, “I believe You will come like the rain.” I love this song, so in the weeks before the trip I heard it a lot, and my prayer became, “Lord, I believe that You will come in...

Here we are!

Here we are. We’ve made it halfway already and I’m sitting here wondering where the time has gone so fast. After today there will be more time behind us then there is before. I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about that. Of course I realize that I’m closer to seeing my family and friends but then I know that I have people here on my team and Nicaraguans who also have a piece of my heart now. When I think about leaving the people at La Quinta I’m heartbroken and know that it will be one of the hardest things I will ever have to do. But since I still...
