Snapshot: Body of Christ

1 Corinthians 12:12 – ¨For as the body is one and has many members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.¨
Our team, Fuego de Dios, has been for me a snapshot of the body of Christ.

There are the eyes, the visionaries. These are the teammates who see where our ministry is and where it could go. They look at children running around the barrios, and instead of dirty hair and shoeless feet they see future men and women of God who will lead their communities and their country.

There are the arms. These are the servants who carry children, hug tired mothers, and lift massive brickes all for the sake of the kingdom. They labor and love, finding ¨the joy of the Lord to be their strength¨ (Nehemiah 8:10).

There are the hands that scratch a tired teammate´s back and scribble out plans for church. They hold the details of our meals, our lodging, and our daily work. These hands bring water bottles to working teammates and never see any kingdom-task as too small or unimportant.

Then there are the mouths. Heaven knows we´ve got the mouths! These are the brothers and sisters whose jokes leave us clutching our sides and wiping tears from our smiling faces. They never miss an opportunity to speak life – through a testimony at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, a sermon at church, or even a whispered word of encouragement to a struggling friend.

Now please don´t get me wrong. No one of my teammates or leaders could be defined by a single category. Rather, God has ordained a team equipped with the perfect combination of strengths and weaknesses to do the work He has set before us. We are far from perfect, but how beautiful is our Father who uses us, broken jars of clay, to hold the treasures of eternity?

God Bless each of you. Your prayers are powerful and appreciated.
Paige
