Weeks before coming here, I had several pictures in my head of what this trip would look like. For training camp, I was perfectly fine with the fact that I was probably going to be roughing it for a few days. I was pretty excited about it actually. Little did I know that roughing it would include building a shelter out of tarp, sharing one pillow with two other people, and having to use people I’ve known for a few hours as body heat. Who knew it actually got cold in Chattanooga…..in June? Nevertheless, it was a great experience, and our team definitely grew closer because of it. We learned how to rely on each other and about the importance of putting others first, which are both going to be super important over these next two months.
Other than growing as a team, these past three days have really challenged me personally. I have already learned so much from the leaders at AIM and I can’t wait to use that in Nicaragua. I am so excited about leaving tomorrow and about living in a community of people that are so full of love and encouragement.
Hasta luego!
