“This day of June 15th I will remeber”

We had an awesome opportunity to go to a nursing home and get to know some of the Nicaraguans that are up in age. We got there and sat down and did the normal nursing home visits, ask about there story´s ask if they have kids, etc… But I noticed that one of the residents was choosing to stay in her room and watch from the comfort of her own chair.   We continued talking and had a chance to pray with the residents individually and afterwards the skeptical lady came out of her room. She was very hunched over to the point she is staring at the ground, and I go over to help her to...

Prayer request!

This is a short update about the family that has been the hearts of Jessica, Zach, Paige and I. We really felt the Lord calling us back there today. We prayed and read the word a lot about healing and whatnot before going. Generally the family (the father with one leg, and the girl Maria Gabriella) are sitting in the front of the house but today they were not. Another daughter came out saying that they are sick with colds and did not want us to come in and get sick. She said that we could come back tomorrow morning so that is what we plan on doing. The four of us plan on spending the next...

Looking Back

Thus far we have been in Nicaragua for a week and before that we were in Georgia for a few days.  Here are some pictures to give you a glimpse into what we’ve been doing. 130 Real Lifers at the airport anxious to find out what this trip is all about.   Our first mission was to ride the Marta to the Safehouse where we would be staying for the night.   At this point some may be wondering if they brought too much luggage.   Training camp was full of street ministry, learning and worship and a little bit of creativity.   and some crazy girls…...

Awesomness

Hola from Jinotepe! So the first week has been sweet. We´ve been working at this place in Jinotepe that´ll eventually be a place where kids can hang out and play games and dink. We went prayer walking through the city one day. I learned how to say ¿Can i read you something? and ¿Can i pray for you? in spanish (this computer has upside down question marks… such a cool trick), so we pretty much just said that all day and then read from a spanish english parrallel bible. But it was good and even if they didn´t understand half the stuff i said in my super sketchy accent i know it was...

A Beautiful Family

On Friday we got into small groups and went onto the streets to talk to people. We asked God to lead us to the people he wanted us to talk with.  At first it was a little intimidating, partly becasue of the language barrier, but after a couple of conversations, our group became more at ease when approaching strangers. We gave out a Bible and prayed healing over an elderly woman and a man. After talking to some people in the park, we walked into a store that had two women working with 2 young children. The older woman was the grandmother and the younger woman was 22 years...

Zapato, in English is shoe…

We split up into different groups the other day, the girls went to the barrios and the guys went to move bricks at the center. It was the first day that we went out to the neighborhoods around the center to just spend time with the people, play some football, or whatever our hearts so desired. There was a group of people hanging out on the curb outside some homes, so we stopped and began talking with them. Salvador, our translator was doing a fabulous job at helping us communicate… however there isn´t enough translator to go around!  The people were so friendly, they brought us...
