Who gave the clutz the food?

Yesterday my team felt called to fast together… all 24 of us chose to not eat food for the entire day and to focus on God even more. I´ve fasted before; others had not, but it was still challenging for everyone. Food plays such a role in all our lives. I had to really work not to be tired from the lack of energy that usually comes in my food. By mistake, our leader forgot to cancel our dinner order for the day, which meant that we received 24 portions of carne asada, plantains, and coleslaw. So what do you do with 24 meals when no one is eating? You bring it into the barrios–...

Pinata

Yesterday was a day of JOY and HOPE.  Half the group went to the nursing home in the morning to see the old folks, and we brought a pinata along for the ride.  I don´t know if I could describe how funny it was to watch 97-year-old, 50-pound Rosa beat away at the paper machetti bear…and then to watch another elder man dance his little heart out as he was so excited to go at it too.  They all loved being outside and I know I really enjoyed their presence as well.  There is so much hope in Christ and I truly feel this was felt amongst all the elders yesterday. It was...

List of Randomness

1.  Prayer is sweet.  We´ve been praying lately for perserverance in a couple different situations. God has really answered our prayers about people in the rehab center, at the nursing home, and in the barrios.  It´s so cool how God loves to talk to his kids so He gave us a way to do it through prayer which is just talking anyway, and then just so we´d do it more He put a ton of power in the prayers we pray. It´s one thing to hear this and read about it but it´s another to see radical changes in peoples life after perserverance in prayer.   2. Yesterday at the rehab...

WWJD

WWJD. What would Jesus do? LITERALLY.   Blair and Patrice gave us the challenge one of the first weeks we were here to open our Bibles, read the red words of Jesus, and then DO THEM. Go to the streets and be Jesus. This idea has stuck with me throughout our time here. We are so accustomed to planning, analyzing, revising, and overcomplicating. The reality is that the love of Christ is simple. And POWERFUL.   ¨Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.¨- 1 John 4:7   ¨Therefore be imitators of God as dear...

Have you ever been mastered by anything? have you ever desired something of this world that brings about destruction and ruin in your life? have you gotten to a place where you couldn´t stand yourself so much that you cut, and cut, and cut to try and take your own life, only to end up with scars, and scars, and scars on your armsand in your heart? Have you seen spiritual warfare working so heavily over a group of people that they are in constant battle with the authorities of this world? have you ever sat in front of about 25 men who have experienced all of these things and wondered...
