The Good Harvest

Upon sitting down with the desire and need to blog, I have found myself almost completely void any deep and probing thoughts. I feel clean (for once), sore from the post-ministry jungle hike, a little sunburned, excited for the momentum my team is building, still smiling from the laughter just shared on the porch, irritated by the flock of flies attacking my computer screen, unsettled by the lack of tangible results from three weeks of dancing our hearts out before an unresponsive audience, and weary of the dull, nagging sense of purposelessness that is plaguing my team. I am happy,...

Unveiling Darkness

After being in Nicaragua for about a week or more we weren’t seeing a lot of the darkness that we felt we were going to be encountering from training camp. We just kept going on day by day, going into the barrios meeting the people & praying for them & playing with the local kids. Don’t get me wrong, it was a lot of fun & great building those relationships. But then one day two other girls from my team plus myself where at a girls Bible study with a translator & the marvelous woman who lives here & helps take care of us. None of the local teen girls showed up...

The Love of a Father

Today while in the barrios I had a divine encounter. Let me first start off by saying that we walk every where. While walking we pass by tons of motos or tut tuts. Usually these motos or tut tuts honk and people say stuff. Not sure what they say but we are getting better at not turning around. Like every other moto experience one passed and said hey, we all turned around and then looked at each other, laughed, knowing that we shouldn’t have turned around yet when we hear English it is rare outside of the team. So what else is expected, we turned around. He then passed us again a few...

Being anointed

Today my team and i  got to hear about the ministry of the Schwietzers. They are an amazing couple who gave up everything to be missionaries and minister to the nicaraguan people. This couple runs a hotel, casa mateo, and they also started la Quinta and new life center. Which is a home for abandoned kids, la quinta, and then new life is a youth center for children and young teens to go. Anyways to get to my point lol.. we sat in a circle and listened for hours about how god has provided miracles in their life and how god calls and equips you when you least expect it. When you hear...

Our Daily Commute

Caution: This video may cause dizziness. Hiking and video recording is not an easy task. I apologize. This is how we get to the Barrios every day. It's always an adventure. Sincerely, La Quinta Esperanza

Open the eyes of my heart.

I colored my hair a couple of nights ago, in the dark, in the rain, in Nicaragua. Oh and its red, I love it! We have started going to the school for disabled children. It really touches my heart to see these kids with so many problems, great me with a smile and a hug. We each go into a class room and just do whatever the kids are doing. Color, build blocks, play ball, ect. The kids really enjoy having us come.  We also continue to go into the barrios to pray for people and their homes. We have started splitting up into two groups, one group goes to the homes, and the other...
