blog numero 2…im catching up to everyone

Second blog of the trip, i didnt think i could do it! Alright so since i havnt blogged in so long i want to apologize, but i do not remember every single spectacular experience that has happened to the team and I since the last blog. So instead ill just go back and review what we have been up to. To start, we were working on building a house for one of our amazing cooks who hadnt had a house for her and her family for quite some time. We worked on that project every other day for about 2 1/2 weeks apart from weekends, and we are content with the end result. The building strategies are very...

Big Black Blob

Gasping for air, I risk glancing over my shoulder to see if something or someone is still hot on my trail chasing me. I don't rest long; in a split second I see the big. black blob after me – relentless on giving up. The dust it kicks up only adds to my terror, so I run faster and faster. I can hear it approaching as I pick up speed. All of a sudden, I abrubtly come crashing down a long set of stairs that suspiciously appeared out of no where – causing me to instantly wake up in a cold sweat. I'm sure everyone has had this reoccuring dream that happens right as we are...

WARNING: This may offend you

God is so good at turning moments into learning moments. Long story short we were having a moment in the girls room that presented a friendly disagreement (that isnt important to the lesson) and then the sharing of wisdom from our leader, Shawndell (a good place for it to come from). She shared that everything Jesus did was purposeful.  Lets review right away……  EVERYTHING Jesus did was purposeful. And also important to note, He was Spirit led. Jesus had a reason for every word he spoke, music he listened to, food he consumed, relationships he pursued, friendships...

I refuse

If you ever find yourself in search for the importance of life, leave behind everything you consider to be important. Somewhere in this foreign land, I seemed to have discovered it. After one month of living here in Nicaragua, my perceptions seemed to have slowly changed from my self-centered life style that I was so accustomed to into something much greater than myself. Everything I ever wanted was right at my fingertips and catering to myself was, sadly, a top priority. Of course looking back, I would have never thought that was the case; at least I would not have admitted it. In one...

You Sneaky Jesus

Friday night during family time Ryan, one of our leaders, heard God speak to Him that we should have a time to prophesy for each other. I used to think of prophesy in just a certain way, but through talking to other people, praying about it, and just hearing what my team thinks of it, prophesy is also listening to Gods voice, being able to discern His voice and know when He is speaking, so that’s what we were going to do. We were going to listen for Gods voice and write it down on a note card, and then afterwards we would all draw a name and give what God spoke to us to the persons...

pierced by his love

I absolutely love having my cartilage pierced. Prior to this trip, I took out my cartilage hoop and forgot to bring it along with me. As the days and weeks passed, I eventually forgot about it. So, I was completely and utterly devastated when I remembered about it yesterday and found that it had partially closed up. How could I do such a thing! I panicked and grabbed an earring that I had brought along and did what was necessary in order to save my piercing. I poked and twisted it gently at first, and then with more aggression as it would not give in. Pain was almost unbearable at this...
