It’s Not All Glitz and Glamour

I've been writing about the fun and exciting things happening here, but this week has been the hardest week so far. We haven’t been doing as much physical labor. We’re still working in the garden and kitchen; weeding, watering, and taking care of tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelon, plantains (they look like a banana but they’re hard and taste like a potato), etc.  This week we worked in the morning until lunch and then had free time/ quiet time. We’re mostly doing this because our team has dominated all of the work that the orphanage had for us to do—they...

Jamba Juice

I really think that Jamba Juice should invest in starting up a store on the Island of Ometepe, Nicaragua.            Mangos fall off of the trees faster than you can imagine and the ground is always covered with the tasty fruit (until they let out the goats who eat up about half of them).   This really is not about Jamba Juice though. Mangos falling off trees like pine cones 7. Riding in the back of a pick up...

I Never Want to Forget

Cicrin is an amazing place. The people who work here really put their hearts into it. It’s inspiring to witness. Earlier this week we fasted with them and the children. They were fasting in prayer for funds that they needed. My favorite part about this experience was seeing the community and love that they had. Instead of quietly fasting individually, they praised and prayed to God in community, declaring that He could provide. It was so powerful to see their faith and to participate. I have never fasted like this. This was so full of faith and passion. It was so cool to hear that...

So many firsts

My first time… 1.      Eating fresh, not steroid infested Papaya, Banana, Mango, Watermelon, and Pineapple 2.      Seeing Tarantulas 3.      Killing a Scorpion 4.      Legit preaching a church service 5.      Fasting in another country 6.      Considering myself clean if I’m not dripping with sweat 7.      Washing my clothes with a washboard 8.      Catching a Sompopo...
