Washed by the Water

Hey ya’ll!!

 whoaaa so i’m gonna throw it out there that i am SO FREAKING EXCITED to get to Nicaragua but this has been such a stretching experience already!! Our first team bonding activity was a ride on the MARTA (which is, of course, always a good time) to our home for the night. Our journey continued with an epic hike with all our worldly possessions for the next two months through an ABSOLUTE DOWNPOUR on the streets of Atlanta. As much as it sucked being soaked, I don’t think i would’ve wanted to start this trip any other way. For a few reasons. #1 It was incredibly fun playing in the rain with my family for the next two months, it definately brought us closer. It was hilarious b/c when we went down hills we’d have to try not to slip, all the while our huge fifty pound bags are chasing us threatening a complete wipeout. yessss awesome. but #2 is b/c I think the rain was symbolic of what I want for this trip. I have a lot of things I need to get right with God, and I’ve known from the time I got to the airport that my time in Nicaragua was going to be just as much about refining my own heart as it is about serving and loving the people of this country. It was cool to see God’s sense of humor come out, it was like he was saying “I’m going to wash you of yourself (as my makeup streamed off my face and my hair went from straight to drenched) and start you with a clean slate, strip you of yourself. I’m going to do what I want to do with you on this trip”. I know that’s exactly what God’s doing; I have nothing to be prideful about right now, nothing to offer but a broken, sinful self for God to clean up and use. He’s gonna do some BIG BIG things and I’m so stoked.

Thank you for all your prayers, I still desperately need them!! 

 I miss you and love you all so much, don’t ever forget 🙂
