Sketchy times on a roof..

It's been a while since my last blog, so I felt it was necessary for me to let my readers know how I am doing. Things continue to move alone very fast at Nueva Vida, as we just finished up VBS last week which turned out to be a huge success. Props to everyone on Team Nueva Vida for making that happen.

Last Thursday, we went out into the barrios with the older kids to do some "house repair". Earlier in the week, our team purchased some tarp so that we could put the tarp over the roofs of some houses in the barrios. We got to the first house with about 15 of us, and we started to brainstorm how we were possibly going to get the tarp on the roof. Since this house was held up by pillars of wood they cut themselves, we were all a little skeptical of one of us going up there to manuever it along the top of the roof. Well, that was really the only option we had, so being one of the lightest ones on the team, I volunteered to be the one! What a cool experience it was for me, to make sure I stood over the strongest points on the roof, while some of my team held up the roof if I had to step elsewhere. After about 15 minutes of me maneuvering the rocks, dolls, and a random hose that was on top of this roof so that the tarp could fit and have the water drain correctly, it was complete. The family thanked us for our help with with their words and also their homeade bread and juice…yum!

Serving God can take many forms, whether it's laying tarp for a family in the barrios of Nicaragua, tithing at a church, or simply listening to what God has to say. God continues to speak to each of us every minute of every day, it's important that we include him in our daily life. From the simplest of decisions, I continue to work to put God first. A childlike, relentless trust is what we can offer when we are uncertain of the future. We serve a God who knows no limits, we can't put our God in a box. He continues to be in control, speaking to us, teaching us new things each and every day, he desires an ear turned to Him. Do we hear the answer we want in the time we want? Not always, I surrender my life to God's time, not my own, as I wait with patient endurance for God to speak to me. He is truly in control, and I love him for that. Turning an ear to him is what he desires, to listen, then to act. I work to be bold in my faith both here in Nicaragua, and once I get back home. Relentless trust.
