Going to a different country, I knew there would be a language barrier. But I thought to myself..”I know a bit of Spanish, how hard can it be?” Having someone translate for you is much different than actually talking to them yourself. But talking to the locals by myself..that’s what I’m going to tell you about.
Very quickly, I realized I can barely communicate.
Genesis 11:6-
The Lord said, “if as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.”
By having different languages and not speaking them, we are pushed to find other ways to communicate.
Some universal signs of love are:
-smiles
-hugs
-tickles
-tears
-sound effects (like when you forget the word for bathroom, and have to act it out)
I have really learned that it does not matter if you speak Spanish 100% or not, there is a purpose for you being where you are, and you will get the love of our Heavenly Father across. Even if it is by making noises, smiling, or even just holding someone while they cry. Love is a language that everyone, in every country, in the whole world understands. Even if you can’t talk to them; you can still show them love.
Genesis 12:1-3
The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all the people on earth will be blessed through you.”
