Our team split into smaller groups of about 5 and were going to do what God planned for us that day. Before our team headed out into the barrios, we asked God to reveal something, an image, a word, anything. Several of us confirmed that He wanted us to meet a family and develop a relationship with them, not just hang out with a bunch of kids. We headed into the barrios and started talking to a woman and a couple of kids outside of their house. Before we knew it, 3 other women and about a hundred more of their kids came out to talk to us. They were all related and lived in the same house. We began to talking about silly things like nails and hair. After a while we started to discuss what it was like to live in Nicaragua and they began to share some of their past with us. The women began to really open up. We all ate bread together under a big tree, like a family. We´ve been able to go back to their house a few times since then. Their children have come to the center several times and we´re really getting to know them better. This Monday we´re going back to their house for lunch and they´re making us soup! I can´t wait to see what happens with this family, especially the moms. They could have so much influence over the entire family and the barrio. God wants to change them. He wants for His son to be something real in their lives, not just a figure to symbolize acceptance in the community. His spirit will fill that house!
