God answers prayers?

Does God simply give you what you ask for in your prayers? I would have to answer no to that question. He doesn´t just provide for his children with the things we ask for..He likes to remind us of who he is and go above and beyond what our little minds can imagine. Since we´ve been living in the youth center, we haven´t had running water. Our contacts provide drinking water, but rain water has been our friend for taking bucket showers, flushing toilets, and doing laundry every day. We have been depending on the skies to open for daily needs, which is something I can say doesn´t happen in the United States much. It has been a new and interesting experience, and I have to say I have actually enjoyed it. For once I have really been dependent on God to provide for basic necessities that we take for granted at home.

Anyway, yesterday we were experiencing near chaos, at least I consider it that. It hadn´t rained the day before or all day yesterday, so the trash cans and barrels that normally provide our water were running low or empty. That is our only means of water, so we immediately went into prayers asking God to provide rain….but it didn´t rain and it didn´t rain. Me, being the human being that I am, kept thinking and wondering what we were gonna do if something didn´t happen SOON. But God, being the God that He is, decided to blow all of us away with what he provided. He not only provided water…He provided RUNNING water. Say good-bye to bucket showers/the stinch from not everybody taking one and having to fill the toilets with buckets of water. The only thoughts in our heads were how we needed rain water, but we got so much more, something way better! Each of us were absolutely blown away with this little yet incredible gift from our God.

That´s not all he provided either. Yesterday turned out to be miracle day. On top of running water the Lord provided several fans for our rooms, fly paper to decrease the overpopulated flies that exist, toilet seats so we don´t fall in, and healing of some teammates. What a wonderful day! These things probably seem so small and silly to everyone back in the states, but when you live in these circumstances they seem so much more important and make us that much more grateful. Through this, we´ve been able to praise God for providing above and beyond our expectations. He is a good and faithful God! We are his children, so of course he wants to give us what we want and need.
