When I walked into the Chattanooga airport on Friday I was overwhelmed as I was met by nearly two hundred college age people. All of us were headed to the same place, training camp. Now I have to admit training camp is a lot harder than I expected. But I believe that I am now so much more prepared for the trip that I am about to partake on.
The very first night at training camp was a challenge and also an amazing team bonding time. We all picked three items from out suitcases and left the rest of out belongings behind. We then headed into the woods to spend the rest of the night sitting around a campfire, singing camp songs and eating tacos out of a bag. When it was finally time for everyone to sleep, we all curled up together on a tarp. It was cold. Very cold. The ground was hard. Very hard. But I woke up in the morning, surprisingly refreshed and feeling closely bonded to my team mates.
No expectations. I have literally no idea what is going to happen next, but I do know that my team will be there for me. We have worshiped together, we have been stinky from no showers together, we have been open and honest together, we are not just a team we are a family.
From having chains broken off, to declaring truths to the mountains at 11pm, this last few days have been crazy awesome.
Nicaragua here we come!!
