Who gave the clutz the food?

Yesterday my team felt called to fast together… all 24 of us chose
to not eat food for the entire day and to focus on God even more. I´ve
fasted before; others had not, but it was still challenging for
everyone. Food plays such a role in all our lives. I had to really
work not to be tired from the lack of energy that usually comes in my
food.

By mistake, our leader forgot to cancel our dinner order
for the day, which meant that we received 24 portions of carne asada,
plantains, and coleslaw. So what do you do with 24 meals when no
one is eating? You bring it into the barrios– to the people who need
it much more anyway.
So Zach, Josh, Matt, and I headed out into the dark–so dark— and rainy night in our rain jackets with food in hand.

We
brought it to several of the families we always minister to. We stopped
at Kevin and Benjamin´s house which was great because the two teenage
boys decided to accompany us. This not only increased our safety, but
also allowed them to help share our love with their neighbors. They
were a huge asset. They helped translate in Spanish and better share
the message of Christ with the families. I think that Kevin and
Benjamin got to see Christ´s love even more apparently than the
families we brought the food to. They were so willing and filled with
joy from helping. These two boys are growing so much and getting to know
Christ more and more everyday.

At one point, we brought food to my girl Hellen´s family. This meant trekking down wet, muddy, ridiculously slippery steps and then back up them.
Kevin fell first. He slipped hard and got mud all over himself. After
that, Zach took my hand to help me get safely down the stairs. For some
reason, I was the only one still carrying the food, and I am by far way
too clutzy for my own good. I was focusing so hard to protect the food
while I was slipping and sliding on these slick stairs. Ironically, the
clutz did not fall once. Instead, it was Zach, the gentleman who was
holding my hand so I wouldn´t fall, who ate it. He slipped on the
stairs and was covered in mud just like Kevin. OUCH! But both Kevin and
Zach had positive attitudes, laughed off their embarrassment, and had a
great night. It was a great way to share and love on the community and
to grow as a community in our group.I encourage you to put God and others first today. It is both rewarding and uplifting.

Shout out to Zach
since I threw you under the bus and to Hannah cuz I like the green
shorts you got in the market and I see you in them right now. 🙂

Be steadFAST in God. He provides. He loves. And He is Good.

With love,

Lindy
