Nica in a nutshell

It's hard to think that this is the last full week we have left here. This has by far been the best experience of my life. I've gotten to experience God working through me and other people, I also got to meet 18 amazing women along the way. There's been so many new things I've experienced and grown in as well as so many great memories.

1. The power of prayer. This is something I took for granted before this trip. I knew how powerful God is but I took it for granted a lot. Our team has experienced its fair share of struggles and sickness these past 2 months. Through it all, God has shown me how much I need to depend on him and he always pulls trough.

2. Rice goes with everything. Even if there is already a side of mashed potatoes, why not through some rice on that plate?  It also is the only food I've ever had for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all in the same day.

3. God opened my heart to the future. Going into my senior year of college it's been a struggle not really knowing my plans after. A common question I get is "so, what do you want to do with your life?" My answer always is "I have no idea." These past 2 months though, God has given more so much contentment in knowing that He's got it all figured out and I just need to wait and listen. I don't need to have my future figured out completely and I'm not scared by what's to come.

4. 19 girls CAN share the same bathroom. This is great example how God can work in crazy ways ;).

5. I've also definitely broadened my horizons and done some things I thought I'd probably never do, like zip lining or use a machete casually.

Overall, I came on this trip expecting to serve others and help create change. Through doing that, I was the one who changed so much. My relationship with God grew so much and I have begun to understand the meaning of faith. I also got the bonus of meeting 18 incredible women who became like sisters to me.

Amen y amen.
