Living Joyfully

We´ve been lifting 270 bricks that weigh 140 pounds each. We´ve been playing soccer and games in the blazing sun. We´ve been speaking in a language that we mostly don´t understand and rarely form correct sentences in. Yet, even with daily portions of rice and beans, rice and beans, rice and beans– we are living in such joy. God has really created a community in my team, in spite of how many of us there are.

Every morning, I wake up at 6… not being able to sleep because of the fireworks and street noises. I run on the rooftop while learning new bible verses in my head as I go. My teammate and I have challenged eachother to learn new ones daily. After getting ready, we procede to have a breakfast of rice, beans, and eggs. Not shabby at all 😉

Once fed, we walk our way over to the children´s center that we have been reconstructing. We´ve painted, moved bricks, and cleaned up troubled parts of it. I got to kick down a wall, too. You can imagine how pleased I was with that. After a good swift kick, my friends and I hammered the whole thing in about two exhilirating minutes. After working, we usually play with children or attend some sort of praise and worship service. It gives us an amazing pportuinity to encourage and share our testimonies and faith with the locals.

After a dinner of rice and beans and some random meat (except for our delicious pizza last night), we hang out with one another, worshiping, sharing, playing cards, and being completely ridiculous. My team is amazing and I know that God has put me here for great things with them.

Until next time with love,
Lindsey
