So this week it has been raining pretty much non stop…everything smells like mold and mildew, the flies are out of control, and none of our clothes are ever dry! In another sense of “rain,” there has been a flood of another group of Americans pouring into Jinotepe, which has given us a new energy as we are finishing up the last week of ministry here. Together we have formed an even bigger part of the body of Christ, and I pray that they receive the spiritual awakening that I have in the past month and a half here.
Sunday night Ashley, Shelby, and I went to Socurro and Eveling´s house for dinner again and it was a wonderful evening together. Socurro is very intentional, she persistently tells us that we must mail each other back and forth, and call each other, and that someday we must come back and visit. She repeats it multiple times so that we really understand it´s so important, which I agree. She wants to see pictures of our families and keep in touch. It has made me see relationships in a whole new perspective. They carry so much weight here, and that´s how it should be. Christ wants us all to have a personal, intimate relationship with Him, to walk beside Him always…I want to pursue that now more than I ever have.
That afternoon a bunch of the team went out to the barrios to get the kids and it was pouring down rain yet again, but that didn´t stop us from anything!! I walked back with Hannah and two little girls, Esther and Annette, and we both let them wear our rain jackets…it was one of the most joyous, beautiful things I´ve ever experienced, seeing them just laughing nonstop with their oversized jackets they´d never worn before. I have never felt so liberated lending a child a raincoat, something so simple!!
I am so excited to get back home because I know life will be very different from here on out. Thank you again for continuing to support me on this trip. I´m sorry I have to keep repeating myself with support money, but I am almost there!! Only $300 away!! God Bless.
