On Friday we got into small groups and went onto the streets to talk to people. We asked God to lead us to the people he wanted us to talk with. At first it was a little intimidating, partly becasue of the language barrier, but after a couple of conversations, our group became more at ease when approaching strangers. We gave out a Bible and prayed healing over an elderly woman and a man. After talking to some people in the park, we walked into a store that had two women working with 2 young children. The older woman was the grandmother and the younger woman was 22 years old and the mother of the children. They didn´t speak any English, but it wasn´t difficult to make conversation. After talking to the younger woman, I found out that they didn´t like their church because they felt like outsiders. We told them about a women´s group that a pastor´s wife had at their house and invited them to come with us the next day. She graciously accpted the invitation. We told them we would return tomorrow and we could watch their kids while they were at the meeting. The grandmother began to get very emotional and began to cry becasue she was overwhelmed with joy. They really seemed to enjoy themselves on Saturday. I am praying that they will be able to find comuminity with the women. Before putting them in a taxi to go home, they invited me to go to their house for dinner one night–I´m really hoping to continue to build my relationship with this family. They are so loving and so thankful, very much like the rest of the Nicaraguan people. I can not wait to see how God is going to change their perception the church and hopefully restore any broken relatoinships.
