Although this is an older story, it is well worth blogging about. About a week ago, a team of 7 of us went out for a prayer walk. Halfway into our walk, Kelli suggested we stop to pray about our hearts and that we can put them in the right place. The perfect suggestion. We stopped to pray and at the conclusion of the prayer, my heart felt different, I felt different. God wanted to show me something that day.
About 50 yards down the road, we came across 15 or so Nicaraguan kids playing baseball on a basketball court. We stopped and talked to them for awhile. After attempted broken spanish talk to the kids, we challenged them to a game of baseball, "Ustedes Unitedos v. Nicaragua". It was on.
The game was a blast. It was a great way for us to reach out and show God's love to these kids surrounded by darkness in the midst of the barrios. Since then, we've played the same group of kids and more continue to show up Tuesday and Thursday. Tomorrow, we plan to play with them again at 2 and then invite them to church at 3. Since most of the kids require that they be "picked up" or walkekd with to church, what better way for us to pick them up. Play with them first, church later. I can't imagine a better way to spend 3 hours being the sports fanatic that I am.
God continues to show me ways that I can best serve him. Futbol and now baseball is added to the picture. I am loving the time we get to spend with the kids, and eventually God will guide them to Church, either physically through us, or spiritually in the hearts, they will/are being saved one at a time. We serve a God who is constantly loving, constantly listening, and constantly showing us ways to reach those who are not saved, we just have to listen. It's a constant battle with choosing to listen to God throughout your/my day, but that beauty of it is it's always happening. God knows us better than ourselves and it is such a blessing to serve a God who is always open to talk.
Your prayers continue to be a huge support to me and my team, and I can't thank you enough for your support. Love you all! Talk with everyone soon!
