The power of your words…

This is a blog that I wrote close to a year ago. I share it with you today because I still believe that it holds so much truth that we can use today. Real quick, before I share it, please be praying for our team. We are about to travel Granada, Nicaragua for three days to debrief and after we are done there we are going to Costa Rica to get our passports renewed. THE POWER OF WORDS! I know I have written something about the power of words before while I was in Kenya but I want to reemphasize this topic. Since month 5 God has been teaching me how important it is to bring out the best in other people. When we bring out the best in others it will more than likely bring out the best in us!!! How do we do this? We do this by speaking life into people. We use powerful words telling them how well they are doing or how great they look that day. We tell them what areas they are shining in. When a person messes up as we all will do, remind them of how great they are. I guarantee you that the person receiving the words will be pleased to hear a friend or family member tell them that they are great and shining in certain areas in their life.

I used to watch the news in Memphis all the time when I lived at home. But after a while I had to stop watching the local news because every night the anchor would have reports of the murders, robberies, and crimes that took place that day. After about 20 minutes filled with this information they would follow it with more bad news. Finally every once in a while when the tigers were playing basketball there would be some GOOD NEWS! But even that news was bad news when our coach went to another team and left us in the dust. I know for a fact that this is not only for my hometown. I have seen it all over the world. The media loves to inform us about others failing, relationships being torn apart, people who have been killed in natural disasters and so on.  The fact is we live in an evil world that ignores the good things that are done every day. I would love to see a change in what the news says about our community. I believe if we step out in faith and act on what God is calling us to do the world is going to start noticing. WE can do this if we all pull together and start making an impact for the kingdom of heaven.

We are the BODY OF CHRIST. When I say we are the body of Christ I mean everyone who is following Jesus is connected to one body. I am not talking about the people who go to church for two hours every week and do nothing else for the rest of the 166 hours in the week. Apostles, Prophets, Teachers, and Evangelists are some of the people who make up the body of Christ. Some have special abilities to heal and others have an ear to hear Gods voice so clear that when God speaks HEAVEN COMES TO EARTH. Still others have a special gift of seeing visions from God and others have a gift of loving people. These are only a few examples and I believe that God has given each person special gifts to BRING THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN TO EARTH. I also believe that EVERY PERSON on this earth has the power to use words to bring life out in others. Some do a great job at this. I would love to see a revolution take place just because of the words we are using towards others.

I want to CHALLENGE each one of you that has read this blog to CALL OUT SOMEONE’S GREATNESS TODAY. Speak life into your family and friends today. It may be a little different for you because you may not be used to speaking good things to others but practice makes perfect!  I want to CHALLENGE each one of you to SPEAK POWERFUL WORDS over at least one person’s life each day for the next two weeks. Not only will this make the PEOPLE FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES, it will also make you feel good about yourself.

Hopefully this will create a ripple effect and the people who you are speaking powerful words to will speak powerful words to others. The main goal in speaking powerful words to each other is to bring the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN TO EARTH!!

So I leave you with this… You are an amazing man/woman of God who brings life to people when you speak. Your words carry so much power with them that they WILL bring the kingdom of heaven to earth. God is going to fill you up with the Holy Spirit today and He is going to use you today to reveal who He is!!!
