The Love of a Father

Today while in the barrios I had a divine encounter. Let me first start off by saying that we walk every where. While walking we pass by tons of motos or tut tuts. Usually these motos or tut tuts honk and people say stuff. Not sure what they say but we are getting better at not turning around. Like every other moto experience one passed and said hey, we all turned around and then looked at each other, laughed, knowing that we shouldn’t have turned around yet when we hear English it is rare outside of the team. So what else is expected, we turned around. He then passed us again a few minutes later and said I have a question for you. We reluctantly responded not sure of what the question was. This time he had someone with him. He looked at all of us and said that this was his daughter and she was learning English and wanted to know how her English was and wanted us to ask her questions. Excited, we asked her questions.

I had the privilege of asking questions and witnessing his reaction as his daughter spoke. His eyes were lit up with joy and his smile from ear to ear. He said that they practice with each other every day for an hour or two, but she doesn’t have many opportunities to talk to anyone who speaks English. He was so proud of her. He has so many dreams for her and wants her to succeed and is willing to do everything he can to see that come true. It was beautiful and such a divine encounter seeing the love between the father and his daughter.

I couldn’t help but think about my fathers love in this moment and looking back at the moment when we said bye at the Chattanooga airport, or when I spoke at my grandmother’s funeral, or when I spoke at a GAP Sunday service. The love of a father is deep and they are proud of their children.

Being here I have learned more about the love of my Heavenly Father in huge ways and how he sees me, as well as recognizing how much and unconditional my fathers love is for me.

My Heavenly Father calls me his child. I am his beloved daughter. He calls me his Bride. I am his bride, he is the brides groom. He will never leave me or forsake me, I am never alone. He will never love me any more of any less according to my rights and wrongs. I delight in him, he delights in me. He adores me. I am adored. I am chosen of God, holy and dearly loved. He sees me as beautiful and I am made in his image. I am redeemed and forgiven, and I a recipient of His lavish grace. I am bought with a price, he sees me as worthy. I am Christ’s friend. I am a saint and a new creation. I am accepted, secure and significant.
