I arrived at Chattanooga Airport around 3:00 p.m. on Friday to meet my teammates who were all complete strangers to me. Little did I know, several hours later we would be spooning in a home-made tent from two tarps in the middle of the woods. Since each team member got to bring 3 things from their luggage, 3 of us shared 1 pillow the whole night. Talk about getting Real Close Real Fast. Adventure does not even sum up our first night experience. This was only the beginning of our teams bonding. God has really shown me the importance of community in Him. He truly taught us how essential it is to always expect the unexpected.
The past few days have been amazing and God has really been preparing our hearts for Nicaragua. Please continue to pray for the people we will come in contact with in Jinotepe, and that we can share the unchanging love God has for them. There is nothing more important than Gods story. The nations are waiting and God has chosen my team to tell the people in Nicaragua about the hope that He brings. He has met us exactly where we are and said let’s go, so that is exactly what we’re going to do!
OH, and a helpful hint for future Real Life Participants.. If you are an over packer then you might want to start working on that now. The old staying that goes “It’s better topack too much than not enough,” is most definitely not true in this case!
