Nuestra Familia

Our travels have brought us to the other side of the island to the town of Balgue, the poorest town on the island. We anticipated less ideal conditions, but we have been very blessed. Living with your momma pig and piglets in your yard seems very normal to us now. We never tire of looking at the baby piglets either. After being here for only 24 hours the church members felt like family. It is amazing how welcoming they are of these 10 American girls. We are the first missionary team to stay here, and are honored to be here. One of the cooks already wrote us a caring note in Spanish.

As we helped a few men at the church start building a kitchen, we were able to build more unity, help with our limited knowledge of construction, and have some good laughs.  Alyssa and i didn't know many building terms, but we are better know with he important stuff like bucket (cubo) and hoyo (hole). Thankfully we did not have to kill the scorpion that one of the men found. When we come together for a common purpose such as building a kitchen, we are able to realize that all people in the world are similar. When you encounter people that believe in the same God it is even more special. I now have family in Nicaragua.

Prayer is needed for this little place because of the drug problems they have here.
