It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. –Galatians 5:1
One night at training camp we sang the song Break Every Chain by Will Reagan (I have no idea if I spelled that right), if you’ve never heard it, you should probs look it up…but here’s some of the lyrics:
There is power in the name of Jesus
To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain.
All sufficient sacrifice
So freely given such a price
Bought our redemption
Heaven’s gates swing wide
There’s an army rising up
To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain.
And it kind of hit me that Christ has set me free. He has broken all of my chains. However, I was still holding on to them. I wasn’t willing to let go of the chains that He had broken. How pointless is that? How can I expect to go anywhere or to deepen my relationship with Christ if I don’t accept the freedom He has given me? We have to run from the things that were holding us back; we need to run towards Christ.
ALSO, just a little info about our past week:
-I got to pluck a chicken again, but this time I had the wonderful opportunity to cut it open and pull out all of its internal organs. (We also got the pleasure of eating the hearts and stomachs).
-Our team and the workers of the orphanage fasted on Thursday to pray that the Lord would provide for the orphanage, and literally that day, God provided all the money that they needed for the food. God is so good!
-We finished moving all of the rocks, and we finished painting the roof for the new house!
-Rice and beans for every meal is actually growing on me, I might just have to make them when I get back.
-There are quite a lot of tarantulas and scorpions at the bottom of the rock pile.
