Trust the Driver
Nicaragua is beautiful. The people, the places, the country. But there is one thing about Nicaragua that is somewhat scary, and that is the drivers.
This country has crazy drivers. And I have been to New York City, so I know about crazy drivers. If you almost wreck three times in a single trip, it is a good day. There are way more than just cars and trucks on these roads. You’ve got carts and horses, bike buggies and tiny taxis, and then buses and semis parked on the side of the road. In doing the work we have to do, we are having to travel in this mass chaos at least once a day.
And added to all that, we are in the back of the vehicle, with no control over where we go, when we go, or how we get there. And it can get a little scary being a passenger in this mass of chaos surrounding me.
Needless to say, it is very important to trust our driver. He is always taking us where we need to go, as safely as he can, and we always arrive to our place in one piece.
Sitting in the back of this truck, trusting our driver, I find myself wondering how I can put so much trust in this driver, but still question God about where He is taking me in life. And not just where, but when and how He is going to do it.
Life is a mass of chaos. And there is so many ways that your life can wreck if you don’t trust God. We are not meant to be the driver of our life. And it is so hard to be the passenger and not take control. But God promises that if we trust in Him, that He will get us there safely.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will direct thy path”- Proverbs 3:5-6
