Yesterday was a day of JOY and HOPE. Half the group went to the nursing home in the morning to see the old folks, and we brought a pinata along for the ride. I don´t know if I could describe how funny it was to watch 97-year-old, 50-pound Rosa beat away at the paper machetti bear…and then to watch another elder man dance his little heart out as he was so excited to go at it too. They all loved being outside and I know I really enjoyed their presence as well. There is so much hope in Christ and I truly feel this was felt amongst all the elders yesterday. It was beautiful.
On the walk back we encountered a middle aged woman weeping heavily along the sidewalk so we stopped to console her. She told us that her 22 year old son had just died suddenly from heart failure. Norah could not stop crying. We prayed over her and it was just an awesome experience to try to lift up her heart and encourage her to keep having faith. Even though she was still grieving I believe she left us with much more hope.
