My Life Be Like…

I’m here!  And my, what a crazy ten days it’s already been!  I’m caught in a strange paradox of feeling as if I’ve only been here a short time, while at the same moment feeling as if I’ve always been here.  Regardless, I love the time that I’ve spent with the people and the culture of Nicaragua so far.  Eventually I would love to share with you all more of the “deep stuff,” but I’m still delving into my own heart and the hearts of the people here- so for this post, hopefully it’s all right with you that I just share some of what we’ve been doing?

Here’s a rough idea of some things we do on a daily/weekly basis:
-We Eat (a lot), Pray (a lot), and Love (a whole lot)!
-Walk through the barrios: laughing, playing, praying, talking
-Visit a local senior center: attempt to understand the residents, but mostly smile and laugh
-Visit Los Pepitos (a school for special needs children): play and show love!
-Hospital visits: walk through the kids and women’s wings, praying for healing
-Watch/play football/soccer: If you know how uncoordinated I am, I’m sure you can guess which one I do most of the time!
-Attend church: which occurs about 4 times a week
-Grow closer to one another as a team: accomplished by endless games of Bananagrams, giggling, deep talks on the way to/from town, and daily family time

Random-osities that are different here from home:
-Cold showers
-Much larger bugs
-No air conditioning, anywhere
-An endless joy from all the people we meet
-Obscene amounts of flies
-Honking and cat-calls as we walk into town

Here are some pictures of my home!
