Wow! January 26, 2010 our team decided we were going to climb Mombacho, an inactive volcano. I was excited but I did not know what to expect. I have never hiked before, and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was told that it was a 5 hour hike from the bottom of the volcano to the top and my excitement died but everyone around me seemed "stoked" so I was "stoked" as well. When we arrived in the parking lot of the volcano we all realized we did not bring enough money to get a shuttle from the parking lot to the base of the volcano. So, we had to walk to the base which was an hour and a half walk/climb. I started to have a negative attitude about climbing this volcano. Unfortunatley, I was complaining from the parking lot until…
This is the lesson I learned: when God speaks you listen. ALWAYS! I felt like the Lord wanted me to spend alone time with him and just worship him, BUT I felt like I needed to be with people to encourage me, so I ended up tagging with the others. The Lord wanted to encourage me, and if I woud have spent that alone time with Him I would not of had a complaining spirit. The Lord would have been my encourgager. So, next time something like this happens the result will be different. I will follow His will rather than mine.
Luke 22:42 “Father, if you are willing , please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done not mine.”
