I am in Nicaragua! I have also found out what I will actually be doing for the next month or so. We are learning 13 songs, 3 funny skits, and 4 serious skits. We are then going out in the streets and performing them. Afterwards we are praying and talking to people and trying to bring them to Christ. If people are interested in going to church and learning about God, we take down their names. Then we start visiting their houses and discipling them. This goes on during Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Saturday is our free day. On Sunday, we are in charge of Sunday school from 9:00 to 12:00 and at 3:00 pm we have church again for 2 hours. We are also required to have a couple testimonies prepared and a song to sing. On Monday we do construction and we fast and prepare on Tuesday for our ministry work the rest of the week.
So here is a summary of my emotional state: I am scared, but I am also excited about the things to come. This wasn’t exactly what I thought I would be doing when I signed up for this trip. It is also definitely way out of my comfort zone, but that is one of the reasons I came here, to get out of my comfort zone. Maybe I didn’t think I would be pushed this far, but I am doing my best to trust that God will provide.
These last few days we have been learning dances and skits and working really hard on them in preparation for next week. I really am not sure how effective our skits and songs will be in bringing people to Christ, at least directly. It would be great to see fruit produced by our actions, but I am content with however God decides to move, whether I see it or not.
