Hey everyone I just want to start out by letting you guys know that all 19 of us are still alive. For all my friends and family back home, no I have not seen a volcano erupt yet, and yes I am still waiting for one too!
This past Wednesday was our first full week here in Nicaragua. This was a week of a lot of first for me. Starting with waking up at 6 30ish every morning in June, washing my clothes by hand, planting corn and weeding for hours, and eating rice and beans for every meal. I have been loving every new thing that I got the chance to experience so far.
The short amount of time that I have been here, memories have already be created that I will never forget. The other day a group of us took the kids down to the lake to swim. The kids thought that it would been fun to get on our shoulders and try to push each other over, let's just say the kids got really into it and I had no problem falling asleep that night. The day after that fun filled night, I had another first moment with six other girls on my team. After we all finished our work for the day, we went for what we thought was going to be a normal run. About a few minutes into the run while we were jumping over ditches and animal poop on the dirt road, we see a cow running. I am guessing that the cow thought our running was a threat to it and started picking up its pace a little and turning towards us. We then stopped running and moved to the side; I feel like I can now say I have ran with a cow…kinda.
Even with all the fun moments I am having here, I have been out of my comfort zone. God has really been working on my heart and started braking down my wall. Everyday God gives me a fresh start, to make more mistakes and to grow my faith in him. I just want to end with thanking everyone for you're prayers and support, God is so good.
