Uncomfortable = Comfortable

It is officially February. Just a few weeks from where we first began our journey. In that short time, I have managed to get sunburnt and sick.. It’s an awesome combination.. (Kidding, it’s awful) On a serious note, my Chaco tan is THE best. (Okay, maybe not so serious) I guess I tell you this so we can talk about church.

     I know, it still sounds weird but hang in there with me.

 Last Thursday we took an hour and a half ride to another town to visit a church. After riding on the smooth pavement we finally made it to the bumpy dirt road which meant we were getting close. Finally, we came to a stop and expected to see a church. Did we see one? Of course not, this is Nicaragua.

They can have church any where and be happy! I guess that is what this blog– this is experience is really about..

 Still not feeling well, I was kind of bummed that it was in someone’s back yard, rather than inside. The comfort of a fan blowing in a building was sounding so good to my runny nose and cough.

 After getting seated, they eagerly began worshiping their creator with song after song after song.. and For Some Reason, they like to hear US sing. Yeah us. We quickly throw together a few songs, yet we are still some what unprepared because we never know when they are going to want to hear our lovely voices (throwing some humor in there)

 After we start singing, I glance at these different colored faces and realized what we are there for. To worship the SAME God, Dios. After God slapping me in the face with that nugget, I look past those faces to see houses, pigs, trash, banana trees, goats, broken chairs, and everything else a “church”/ place of worship “shouldn’t” look like.

 But the cool thing is, we were doing it. Worshiping right in the middle of someone’s back yard. Us, the real “church” brothers and sisters were there to share the love we have for the SAME God, Dios.

 Leaving you guys with this, how lame was I for being bummed that we weren’t inside with a little fan? And how cool was it for God to quickly remind me that it DOESN’T matter where you are.. And how cool was He to use these beautiful people, and someone’s back yard to remind me of that? Even though, I was physically uncomfortable– hot, sick, surrounded by dirt; I was spiritually comfortable– worshiping the same God, Dios with my sweet brothers and sisters.
