So, it’s Wednesday morning and I’m currently sitting in a coffee shop. We had bible study here this morning, which I was thrilled about. It’s so chill, being here makes me feel like I’m back in the states, music, coffee and pastries. But the pastries here are much better here than in the states, that’s beside the point. As I was thinking about what I’d blog about, (since it’s been so long) I recalled this little note I’d saved on my computer. The one you’re about to read, but at the end of my thoughts I put some italicized quotes from Victory over Darkness that I thought went hand in hand with what I had been thinking originally. Make sense?
The changing tides will wash us away….
Many weeks back, as I was in the Pacific Ocean I think I really realized what that quote means. I finally wrapped my brain around high tides sweeping us away. You know how it feels when your feet are planted firmly in the sand and then a huge wave crashes against your own body, you start to lose balance but you’re still standing up right. But then the ocean starts to retrieve the wave and you feel yourself being pulled back in.
Being pulled back in- isn’t that what’s constantly happening to us. As soon as God helps us over come a temptation or struggle and we’re feeling strong something starts to tug us away.
I challenge you to choose to stand on a rock- A rock that can’t be shaken or moved. That way when the world or Satan try to move you or your faith- the love you’ve placed in the Lord will not falter.
– Why should I accept defeat when the Bible says that God always leads me in victory (2 Corinthians 2:14)
– Why should I allow Satan control over my life when He that is in me is greater than he that is in the world ( 1 John 4:4)
– Why should I ever be in bondage knowing that there is freedom where the Spirit of the Lord is ( 2 Corinthians 3:17)
– Why should I let the pressures of life bother me when I can take courage knowing that Jesus has overcome the world and it’s problems ( John 16:33)
